Designated as a Center for Excellence in International Education in 1986, CCSU boasts a wide variety of programs and initiatives that stretch from one end of the earth to the other. Ghana, Korea, Poland, England, Brazil and Jamaica are just a few of the nations with whom CCSU maintains close and lasting links. The continuing enrichment, expansion, and refinement of the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs in International Education result from the institution’s established commitment to global awareness.

Students graduating from the International Studies program achieve dual competency: expertise in a particular area of the world, as well as a strong background in International Studies. From globalization to global warming, from terrorism to International Law, from capitalism to poverty, our program provides students with a vigorous academic grounding in a discipline that is as current as today's headlines.

Ideally, International Studies majors will spend one academic year abroad at one of over fifty CCSU partner institutions worldwide. Some students choose to study abroad for shorter periods and students who are unable to complete a study abroad experience can work with their advisor to develop a local multicultural experience related to the students’ academic track or regional specialization.  Internship opportunities are also available for students who want hands on experience prior to graduation.
