INTERNSHIPS
The faculty of the International and Area Studies Program believe in the importance of internship opportunities for our students. Working in a “real world” environment provides our students with the chance to achieve many goals at the same time. During internships, students can make career contacts; they can assess the distance between the work world they imagine and the work world that actually exists; and students can gain, outside of the university, course credit for their work experiences. As of May 2005, the International and Area Studies Program offer one internship with the Connecticut State Department of Education. See below for the details; by September of 2005, we hope to have at least five internship opportunities available for our students. Please check back in the coming months for the details of these experiential bridges to business, government, education, and non-governmental organizations.
